This event opened with the presence of the President of Iran (the late Ayatollah Raisi), economic ministers from more than 30 African countries, senior government officials, and business leaders. In his opening address, the President emphasized that “this meeting symbolizes the will of the Islamic Republic of Iran and African countries to expand economic relations,” stating, “We want Africa for Africa, unlike the West, which has often sought to exploit the continent’s resources.”
During the second Iran–Africa Summit, high-ranking officials from Iran and various African nations delivered speeches emphasizing the importance of strategic cooperation. The main themes included developing trade relations, facilitating joint investment, cooperation in technology and energy, and expanding cultural and scientific exchanges. These speeches not only outlined the future vision for Iran–Africa relations but also served as a basis for practical negotiations and understandings throughout the summit.
The B2B sessions were held extensively, with more than 150 specialized meetings, including panels focused on key industries such as steel, petrochemicals, and agriculture. These sessions gave economic actors from both sides the opportunity for direct dialogue, laying the groundwork for operational cooperation and contract development.
During the summit and the associated exhibition (IranExpo), memorandums of cooperation were signed in commercial and industrial fields, especially for vaccines and biological products by the Razi Institute. Additionally, Iran’s scientific, industrial, and export capacities were introduced in greater detail to the African delegations.
At the closing ceremony, representatives from both sides reviewed the achievements, mutual determination, and commitment to follow up on agreements. The simultaneous holding of the summit with the IranExpo International Exhibition helped further introduce Iran and created favorable conditions for expanding economic and commercial relations.
